Happy Monday...

Is this how you're feeling about the fact that it's Monday?? I am, too! This weekend was one of those weekends that needs another weekend to recover from. But here comes another week so get ready, get set, Go!

Hope you had a lovely weekend and feel excited about something this week. I am always happiest when I have something to look forward to and when I don't have something like that, I often make one for myself or ask James to.

This week I am looking forward to:
- Making a big dent in the projects I have on my desk.
- Getting some fun packages in the mail that I've ordered.
- Going to the high school football game with my family....this year is James' first year as a high school math teacher!
- Watching Emily play her first soccer game on Saturday.
- A mid-week evening out by myself....a little quality time with Michael, JoAnn and Joe (a.k.a. Michael's Crafts, JoAnn's Fabric and that soothing elixir they sell at that one place called Starbucks hehehe!).

And while I'm out by myself, "running the roads," as my friend Analise would say, I'm going to look in the bookstore, too, to see if the newest Somerset Life is out....because I'M IN IT!!! It's my first time truly being "published" in an art-related way, and it's very exciting. I got my advance copy last week and came screaming into the house from the mailbox and scared my four-year-old half to death! I took it to my mom's this past weekend and showed it to my extended family. So fun. :) It's the Fall issue so it should be on newsstands soon, I think.
Here's a peek at the beautiful article. I am so pleased with the amazing photos and such a lovely article! Wow! One of the editors wrote and asked me to submit an "art kit" in whatever style I would like. This is what I came up with....a "vanilla" kit...all whites, creams and ivories with touches of pink here and there. I included vintage lace, an old bisque doll, covered buttons I embroidered with bullion roses, old millinery flowers, an antique chalkware half-doll and lots more! It was such a joy to put together and I'm so glad Somerset liked it. Just LOOK at the two whole pages of beautiful photos! Wow...I'm so, so pleased! Christen Olivarez, one of the editors who wrote the article, did a fabulous job and I'm just so honored that she chose my kit for the article.

Today is my second tutorial for the Sweet Six Studio Online Art Retreat. I love this one and I hope all of you Sweet Six members do, as well. It's an Altered Hymnal Journal and I'm teaching how to make them from start to finish. It is such a satisfying, enjoyable and doable project. And it's not too late to register for the Art Retreat if you would like to and haven't! Go HERE if you are interested.
Here's what I'll be teaching in my tutorial...

In other news, I have finally put this sweet little "Just-Baked Cupcake" (with the sweet cupcake pin you see in the photos!) on my website and it is available for purchase! I showed it to you last week but forgot to list it! You can go here to find it.

Hope your week is a happy one!

Hugs,
Cheryl
