Yummy Monday...you didn't give up now, did you, Sweets?

Hello, Sweets! Most of you are already in bed and won't get this installment of "Yummy Mondays" until Tuesday but I have been quite busy today.

Surfing. All day.

I live in California but there were no waves or hanging of ten here. Oh no. We're talking internet surfing.

As you probably know, I have 3 kids under 6 so when I say I was surfing all day I don't mean literally every minute! But I DO mean every available minute. Plus a few when someone was pulling on me or when I was shouting that I'd be there in Just one minute so please stop hitting your sister or...

Well you get the idea, don't you, Sweets?

I feel a little wrung out from all this surfing, to be quite honest. I am on sensory overload! But it's a very happy kind of feeling...like when you run and run and RUN and you are tired and feel like collapsing in a happy little pile because you did something good.

I just found out who my swap partner is for a certain swap and I am just tickled to get to know her and create something special for her. I also found out she likes Marie Antoinette and some specific colors and details that make her heart go pitter-patter. Unlike some of you who have watched the Marie Antoinette (Sophia Coppola version) movie fifty million times, I have only watched it ONCE and it was just about a month ago! But I adore it and actually purchased a copy and am waiting for it to arrive so I can watch it again. I'm fairly sure all of you have seen it but if not...do yourself a favor and pick this one up. It is amazing. Decadent. Sumptous. Elegant. Beautiful. I would love to know how many millions of dollars went into the costumes and sets for this movie. Millions, I tell you. Each dress, each sofa, each detail was a positive masterpiece...and there was a movie FULL of them. There is no way to describe the beauty of this film with a word. I was awed and inspired, like so many of you. But this was before I found out my swap partner's preference for the Marie Antoinette-esque! So it all seems meant to be.

However, this does NOT mean I knew immediately what I would create for her. I still don't know. I spent all day looking for inspiration, elements and that "a-ha" feeling and didn't quite get it. I touched it. I caught a few glimpses of it. But I still don't quite HAVE it. But gosh it was fun grasping for it!

So with that said, this week's Monday Yummies trip is inspired by Marie Antoinette!

Shall we depart? Our carriage awaits....

I gasped aloud when I saw this. Incredible, is it not? Fanciful, sumptous and lovely! YUMMY THING TWO: Confections de Marie Slippers by Fete et Fleur

Your turn to gasp aloud, Sweets. This exquisite creation is by my friend, Nancy of Fete et Fleur. This confection is not for sale at this time, but I think you might be able to BEG Sweet Nancy to make you something equally lovely....

I loved this collage at first sight. And today as I was browsing through my "favorites" on etsy, I realized WHY I like this so much. Other than the roses, of course. I love the way the roses are arranged in a way to resemble the incredibly coiffed hairstyles of the French in Marie's day....
YUMMY THING FOUR: Marie Antoinette Inspired Hat by Sophie Rose Designs

Lovely. Ethereal. Sweet as can be....

YUMMY THING FIVE: 1920's German Half Doll

She has that Marie look about her. And she is just begging to be made into an incredible altered confection....

I can imagine this as the focal point of a Marie-themed altered book. I think it is lovely but its diminutive size makes it even more lovely...

Yet another potential element for a Marie-themed altered art piece...don't miss the details of her skirt.

YUMMY THING EIGHT: Vintage German Doll #1

I am intrigued by these dolls...porcelain bodies and Dresden lace skirts. My girls would ask, "Can we pleeeeeeeease play with your teacup dolls, Mama?" Anything "breakable" is "teacup" around here...it's an adjective.
YUMMY THING NINE: Vintage German Doll #2

While I prefer the face of Doll #1, I prefer the skirt of this doll. Isn't it incredible? Those tiers really make my heart beat faster. I KNOW that's a detail that will be included in my swap partner's swap gift.
YUMMY THING TEN: Vintage-Look Baby Blue Satin Evening Bag
You have nothing LEFT to put in this bag since you've spent it all by the end of this trip, right, Sweets? But gosh it would look pretty in your sweet little hand! This isn't vintage but it's made to look it. I just love that shade of blue and I know someone else who does, as well....

Lovely Ladies, we've come to the end of our journey! I promise to show you what I'm creating for my swap partner when I have it figured out. Meanwhile I'll be dreaming of satin, lace, velvet, roses, sweet treats, feathers and of course diamonds....

You're right, Cheryl, that's a fabulous movie! I saw it in the theater at the 10:00pm showing and normally would have been half asleep midway though it, but I didn't want it to end. The scenes in her country house made me want to come home and cover everything in toile! I'm loving these Yummy Mondays!

I LOVED Marie Antoinette and all I could think about was how yummy and decadent it was. It was rather a sad story, but the scenery was to DIE for. Love your bloggie!
