Monday's "Yummies"!

Good Morning, Sweets! So happy to find you here today! And I know JUST why you've come today....it's Monday and that means Yummy Treats for you...

I'm so excited about the Yummies for today. Really and truly excited! They are just SO scrumptious. So hop on into my little cyber-sidecar and open up the white, frilly, Mary Poppins-style parasol you'll find next to you...it's quite warm today and I wouldn't want you to be uncomfy now. Pour a cup of coffee (you'll find the hazelnut creamer in the little fridge at your feet), sit back and.....we're off!

YUMMY THING ONE: Sweet Shadowbox by Sweet Eye Candy

Now before you get all excited, please listen carefully. This is not for sale! This is what the Sweet Miss Jenn of Sweet Eye Candy made for her very own sweet-as-pie daughter, Miss Vivi. I don't think she would sell it even if you offered her $1,000. Well...I guess you could try! But the good news is....she's making more! You heard right...she has assured me that she is going to make more of these on a smaller scale and sell them on etsy. So make sure you bookmark her scrumptious blog so that when she's ready to serve these yummy little treats up, you're the first in line! Well you won't be FIRST in line...that'll be me...but you can stand right behind me and we'll chat and eat M&M's together while we anxiously await them.

p.s. Miss Jenn showed me a "preview" of some other lovelies she is going to list in her soon-to-be etsy shoppe and OH-MY-GOSH I want to gobble them up.

Isn't this delicious? Now I am not a gardener, but this jacket could seriously inspire me to begin, at the very LEAST, walking around the yard in my jeans, pink crocs and THIS. I might even pick a few pink roses! This jacket and other yummies I ADORE can all be found in a lovely place called Inspire Co. And what the heck, even if we don't garden, this jacket would look SERIOUSLY CUTE for a cold Fall morning at the flea market. We really need one, I think. Don't you??

YUMMY THING THREE: Vintage Lampshade Kit by Vintage Flair

Now isn't this sweet? So feminine and whimsical. Looks like it could be straight out of a period film. But it's a KIT! That's right...this kit is from the Vintage Flair etsy shoppe and I am in love with it. She has several for sale and each one is unique. It includes full directions and all the materials to cover your own shade just the way you see here! She has a lovely blog, too, which you can check out here.

YUMMY THING FOUR: Ice Cream Tote by Mermaid Sparkle

Are any words necessary? I don't think so! This tote is just plain YUMMY and we all know it!! I ask you...what's NOT to love about Pandolph fabric, chenille ice cream cones and ruffles? Really...who can resist?

Hint: There's a Cupcake Tote in her store, as well!

YUMMY THING FIVE: Cupcake Tape by Chet and Dot

Speaking of cupcakes, we need this, don't we? We don't even need a REASON to own this except that it's yummy and cute and MUST belong to us. It must! But before you head over to Chet and Dot , please beware of EXTREME CUTENESS!!! Don't say I didn't warn you...you place yourself at risk of being won over by sweet stuffies, perfectly sweet pouches and all manner of cuteness. You will never be the same!

Well that's it for today! Hope you had a lovely time. I know I did! Wishing you a Yummy Monday, full of inspiration, joy and all that things that make life good...

Hugs, Cheryl

Help!

Somebody....anybody - quick! Tell me it's o.k. and NOT a desecration to cut up the SWEETEST of vintage baby cards! That auction was SUCH a bargain and I got some dear little cards out of it, but I have won....um....several...ahem...in the last year! ;) I have turned into quite the little collector! So when I decided to actually USE them, I was both excited and a bit anxious. I had no idea how it would feel to actually take scissors to these darlings!

Omigosh I am having major anxiety over this. I'm sure I am not the only one who feels some remorse over cutting vintage lovelies up, whether it's books, linens or cards. Right???? Good heavens - it's someone's "trash," after all! But I can't help it, Sweets! Somehow the fact that they were cards for babies makes it worse, perhaps because I am in the middle of the baby/toddler/small child phase of parenting and these items are particularly sentimental to me. I'm just guessing.

So... I am telling myself that I am not only NOT desecrating these precious bits of history, but I am in fact PRESERVING them by making something new, useful and desirable out of them. These sweet images aren't being appreciated or enjoyed (except by me of course...pulling them out and smiling over them every few weeks...wondering what to do with them). So I in fact OWE it to these delightful cards to make them into new yummies!
RIGHT??????

Two More Days, Sweets!

Some of you Southern Belles have already gotten on your sweet little canopied boats and set sail for The Land of Nod, but I thought I'd pop on here anyhow and remind you that you have TWO MORE DAYS to leave quotes here for me to use in my "Secret Project." Remember, Sweets, if I choose to use a quote that YOU have left, I will send you a sweet little something I've made! So scoot on over here and read this post about what type of quotes I need from you! Thanks, Lovely Ladies!!

Inspiration in the Midst of Chaos...

Hello, Sweet Friends! I have been neglecting you, haven't I? Things are crazy here...well, crazier than usual, I should say! We are selling our house and we had our first "lookers" yesterday, so it's been a flurry of cleaning (read: wiping things with those life-saving treasures otherwise known as Clorox Wipes) and organizing(read: hiding stuff in cupboards and the trunk of my husband's car!), and at the same time, trying to keep a fussy, feverish little guy happy. Yikes! But the first "lookers" yesterday "loved the house," according to the realtor, and are coming back today for another look. I won't get my hopes up, but Oh how I hope this all goes down quickly and easily!

But before I go back to cleaning or my fussy little man wakes up, I do want to share some yummy piccys with you all. These are things that are inspiring me as I think about a new collection I'm planning...can you guess the theme???

Monday Again....and you know what that means!

YUMMINESS!!!
How can it have already been a week?? Not sure how that happened, are you? But the calender says it's Monday and of course I can't disappoint you...I must give you your Yummies!

Now before we begin, take a look in your little sidecar you always sit in while we cruise around cyberspace, window-shopping together. Do you notice anything? Well you should! I made you a little snack to munch on while we shop!

So eat up! And feel free to make all the "yummy noises" you want!

And off we go...

YUMMY THING ONE: A BIRD IN A BAG...in pink! by Blossom Hill Cottons

Isn't this delicious?? I have bought of few of Hazel's sweet-as-can-be little felt animals and am delighted with them! And this is just oozing yumminess and wow! look at the price! Couldn't be better. I "SEW" enjoy Hazel's blog, as well, where I ogle her beautiful home in (gasp!) Nova Scotia (think Anne of Green Gables land!). Check out all her sweet yummies...

YUMMY THING TWO: Pink Highchair & Doll by Summersdarling
I know, I know....it's just the sweetest thing. Hurry on over before it's gone! Notice the darling little vintage image on the back. And can you believe there's a Maude Humphrey doll included in this auction? OH my...don't let my daughters see this!

YUMMY THING THREE: Camelbak in Pink

Not my normal Yummy Thing, I know, but you have to admit, this is GREAT! As you might have noticed in my post yesterday, my girls were wearing these funny things on their backs while hiking with Daddy. These are called "Camelbak" backpacks and they are what they sound like....they hold water in them! There is a straw type tube attached from which they can suck water while hiking. Needless to say, everyone wins with this! Girls have fun AND stay hydrated! And oh-my-gosh-this-comes-in-pink...you heard me....pink! Hop on over here to see it in pink, since it won't let me grab the photo...

But here is the pic of my girls again, plus another, even though their Camelbaks are not pink. :( We decided on non-girly colors since Andrew will end up wearing these down the road. But can I have one in pink????

YUMMY THING FOUR: Vintage-Look Mohair Teddy

As soon as I saw this sweet darling, I fell in love. OH MY. Doesn't he look genuinely vintage??? I am just in love with him. Missy of Mohair Circus is at it again! You can find this slurpity LOVE here in her etsy shoppe!

Oh I just love this. Everthing about this is just YUMMY! What a sweet, vintage-looking piece this is and the price is right, too. And "Shaylee" means "fairy princess of the field," and for some strange-Cheryl-is-odd reason, that makes me like it even MORE. I love, love, love the chain it's on, too. There's matching earrings, too, but I don't have pierced ears. I'll let YOU buy the earrings....isn't that SWEET of me? :) And is if it couldn't get any sweeter than that....the shipping on anything in her store is FREE!

YUMMY THING SIX: "When in doubt, eat more cake" by Chloebeanie

Oh my gosh...isn't this just ADORABLE?? I found this because my new friend, Miss Jenn, bought another darling stitchery from this seller and I oogled and asked her where she got it! She got it here and you can look at Chloebeanie's sold items to see more darling pieces. But this one is just TDF, don't you think? Of course, I'm partial to embroidered pieces.... ;) and you KNOW how I feel about cupcakes!

YUMMY THING SEVEN: Cupcake Pendant by Reminisce Heirlooms

Now before you read this you have to PROMISE you won't tell Her Highness Miss Emily about this! She is actually getting one of these for her birthday so we musn't spoil the surprise! I couldn't help myself and Tabetha, the artist who makes these sweets, is just the kindest soul! She has a whole Cupcake Collection but I have ordered the "Pretty as a Princess" pendant in the pics. Oh she will just love it, I can tell!

Well girls, can you believe our Yummy Trip has come to an end? I had such fun with you today! As always... Now don't forget to wipe those sugar cookie crumbs off your face...

Have a lovely day, Sweets! And be sure and check out yesterday's post if you haven't already, if you'd like to win special gift from me!

Favorite Quotes....and gifts for YOU!

Hello, Sweet Readers! Thank you so much for popping in here to visit! Hope you are having a lovely Sunday evening. It is still afternoon here in California, but for some reason most of the lovely people I connect with via eBay, etsy and blogs live in the east! Not sure why that is....are "ya'll" more crafty out there?? I know I am a Southern Girl at heart. My "mama" is originally from Maryland and HER mother was born and bred in Alabama. A real Southern Belle! Though we didn't know it at the time, all 5 of us girls (yes! count them...FIVE!) were brought up as "Southern" as my sweet, tired mother could manage. There was an effort to teach us "yes ma'am" and "yes, sir" though NO ONE (and I do mean no one) we knew talked that way. We were dressed in dresses and skirts only for church each Sunday and could only wear white shoes after Easter. And Easter....well, picture dressing 5 girls in frills with the requisite sausage curls, white gloves and Easter bonnets. I get dizzy just thinking about it! Actually, I was the oldest by 14 years so by the time my youngest sister, Laura, was being dressed for church, I was old enough to help. I had mastered the French braid and the Pony Tail LONG before having my own girlies!

ANYWAY....I digress...where was I?? OH yes...I am a Southern Girl at heart so perhaps that's why I'm drawn to the types of leisurely (did I just say LEISURELY??? hahaha! what a joke that is!!!) activities like sewing, embroidery and the like that are more....shall we say, "traditional?" Not sure. But in any case, I seem to make a preponderance of sweet friends who live back east!

****Here's the part where I tell you what to do to win a gift....****

Today I am going to share some of my favorite quotes with you and I would LOVE to hear YOUR favorite quotes. Not just any favorite quotes, mind you....but the sort that inspire you. The kind that gets you going in the morning. Or kicks your cutie-patooties into gear when you are feeling sorry for yourself. Or the kind that brings your heart and mind back to what is important. Or...the best kind in my mind....the kind that takes you outside of your life, your circumstances and your thoughts so that you see, even for a moment, what "all this" is all about.

I have a project in mind that I am going to use some of my favorite quotes....and some of YOURS!...to accomplish. I will also be sending a special gift to each person who leaves a quote here that I end up using for this project. I haven't decided what this gift will be yet, but it will be something handmade by me! So leave your quotes here as comments. I will pick out my favorites to use for this project I have in mind by August 1st so you have till then to leave as few or as many as you like! No limit to how many quotes you want to leave. The more the better, in fact! On August 1st I will tell you which quotes I've picked and post the winners of the gifts.

With that, I want to leave you with a couple of MY favorite quotes, as well as some sweet, beautiful and happy images that I love!

Hugs to all of you...

Let Them Eat Cake!

I'm so excited, My Bloggety Pals! I've been making some fabric altered art books, but this is my very first one to sell on etsy and I am so pleased with how it turned out and can't wait to show all of you!

This one is called "Let Them Eat Cake" and it is a sweet little book for someone to keep things in. I think it would be fun to put recipes in...specifically cake recipes. But it would also be a great spot to keep ephemera and findings for altered art if you're THAT kind of gal! There is a grand total of 15 pockets in this little sweetie.

I also had fun making some altered art recipe cards that fit perfectly into the pockets and are ready to have your family recipes (or some "sweet" notes for loved ones!) written on them. I cut out a couple of the very best recipes from the vintage cake recipe book I blogged about the other day and put them on a couple of the cards, as well. I used a few of the fun photos, as well as some words from the same recipe book to embellish the recipe cards. Some of them are even a bit silly! I also used some rhinestones, paper elements, some old-stock TEENY TINY little ceramic roses and other little doo-dads to decorate the cards.

As for the book itself, it is entirely fabric and trims. No paper! The "cover" is made of my VERY FAVORITE Rachel Ashwell fabric that I just do NOT get sick of! I love it. The cake on the front cover is hand-embroidered to a little circle of linen which is then hand-embroidered to the cover. The cake was one I found on a vintage birthday card that was then printed on fabric. I love it! The "pages" are made of premium muslin and a lovely rose-print barkcloth. I used vintage lace, crocheted trim, tatting and doilies for the pockets. And don't miss this sweet little poem/images also from a vintage book that picture a darling little girl pretending to bake a cake for her teddy! These are appliqued to the pages but the top is open, making them pockets, as well.

Another fun detail is that the inside covers have pockets that are just perfectly-sized for ATC cards if you happen to be a fan like I am!

Well that's it! If you want to purchase this little book, you can find it here. I have lots more little themed fabric books in the works, too, so if you like these, stay tuned for more in the near future...
Oh and if you like the cake cover in my photos (pink with the INCREDIBLE roses!) go see my good friend, Pat, who sells these in her amazing eBay store, summersdarling. I am totally and completely enamoured with the cake cover I bought from her!

And thank you, Sweet Friends, for all the comments of late! You make my days sweeter...

Love,
Cheryl
